Can anyone identify a flower or its family group for me?

these flowers were planted from a mixed bag of bulbs, including gladioli's, it has three petals in bright pink/red and then an inner pattern of yellow patches inside a ring of yellow. It has three orange/yellow gowths that are between the petals and then a long red stamen. It grows from long palish geen leaves, and the flower only lasts one day. hope someone can help me.

Can anyone identify a flower or its family group for me?
Hard to tell from your description, but it sounds like it may be a lily. What shape are the petals - round or pointed? The three ourange/yellow (growths?) between the petals - are they petals as well?

Day lilies usually only last a day - hence the name. How tall is it? Is there more than one flower per stem? More than one stem per plant? Any chance you could get a picture of it? That would help immensely.
Reply:Ei, ei, ei, that is a tough one. Could it possibly be a Fall-Crocus? I am not joking, as there is such a plant - Iridaceae.

1. My suggestion is that you take a picture and head for a nursery for help....or go to the County Extension for info.

2. Go to the Google or Yahoo "Search box" and type in the info for Spring bulbs, for Summer bulbs, or for Fall bulbs. Something might come up.
