How can I improve my stamina or endurance?

Hello I am a 14 year old kid going into highschool and im starting football camp in like 2 days. Im in terrible shape I can barley run 5 minuites without stopping. In between camp and real practices there is a two month gap. In those two months I would love to be able to boost my stamina and endurance to become a better athelete. (Im like 5,6 150 lbs.)

How can I improve my stamina or endurance?
some one suggestion intervals with jogging and sprinting. If you struggle to run for 5 minutes I don't think that would work for you.

I suggest something similar walking with jogging. You could get a friend or parent to go with you and wear a watch with a timer.

Walk for 10 minutes to warm up do some stretches beforehand. Then a minute of running, 1 minute walking (longer if you need it) 2 mins running, (2mins walking) etc go up to 5 or whatever you can make it to and then go back down and finish off with a 10 minute walk.

This should take about 50mins.

When you get fitter have longer periods of running and less walking eg 10 mins running 2 mins walking.

Good luck
Reply:ok i do soccer (football) as some say, i do alot of sprinting

but u have to get the technique right first before u can start sprinting.

when u do sprinting u want to have; open hands and the arms must go to the nose then to pockets keep ur back straight.

now for the training; now since u do football then i dont suggest u do 100m sprints.. useless u will never do 100m sprint in a soccer game.

so do 15 - 40m sprints.

wat i do is the 20, 30, 40m sprint... jus line 3 cones up in that order, sprint to the first cone then walk back then sprint to the second cone walk back so on. bot of these should go for about 15minz

u can also do the same thing but you run around the cones (no walking) remember to pump the arms.

you can go to any sports shop and buy some hurdles

( different sizes) and do knees up bout 8 reps with 30 - 50 second rest.

the beep test is also very very very good, u should be able to download it from limewire or something.

doing squats my coach says if you want to become rly fast then u should squat ur own weight + 1 quater of ur weight. but thats when u get way up in ur fitness levs

ummm u can also do the ladder u can look up different exercises on youtube, the ladder exercises are very helpful but remember to drink ALOT of water

there are alot out there these only touch on it. but i recomend the beep test.. it kills at about 12 - 14 but it does alot bout 15 minz of the beep test is like 2 hours of training lol =p
Reply:I improve my running by doing sprints. For example you Sprint 30 secs and run slowly for 60 secs, that being one set. Do 5-10 sets. It will help alot. Or run long dist at a comfortable pace till u get in better shape and then start doing sets. You can mix running with swimming to improve your cardiovascular stamina :)
Reply:if you are an offensive player i suggest working on speed...

-its bad that u held it off..but for the next 2 days u should jog outside

-warm up for about 3-5 minutes

-stretch

-sprint 12 seconds every three minutes

-do it for about 10 minutes

-stretch

-rest and do it over again
Reply:Cardio exercise such as running or jogging. Start of slow with 3-4 minutes of jogging, walk for minute than continue running again, continue to increase the amount of time running and you will surely see improvements real soon. This worked for me.
Reply:start working out and running, you never see any one walking on a foot ball field. and work short sprints. like coming off the yard marker and running about 50 Ft. and then do the same going the other way. Drink lots of fluid and do not get over heated.
Reply:just exercise at your level and move up the more you are ready and you will start to gain stamina and endurance.
Reply:intervals ( jogging w/ bursts of sprints)
