What's the best way to build endurance/stamina for running?

When i was in the Army we done a lot of running up hills and walking down them.....never the other way around.

Running up 45 degree hills untill your legs turned to jelly and you threw your breakfast up was considered excellent endurance training.

What's the best way to build endurance/stamina for running?
run more often and pretty soon you will be able to rin with out getting tired
Reply:When I started running I was barely able to run a mile without stopping but I found that running for a length of time maybe about 5 minutes and then walking for a minute and running for 5 minutes and then repeating for the desired amount of time.

Eventually when that gets easy run a mile and then walk for 5 minutes, etc.

Taking walking breaks helped me to be able to run up to 12 miles at a time.
Reply:Run alot
Reply:Go to your local track and split the 400 meters up into four sections: sprint the first 100 meters, jog the second 100 meters, sprint the next 100 meters, and jog the next 100 meters. Do as many laps of this until your legs feel like rubber.
Reply:Run backwards as far as Forrest Gump ran!
Reply:humm,...just do it ! by nike shose..?
Reply:Lots of aerobic exercise, increasing the duration of the exercise.
Reply:This may sound stupid but wear a snorkle while you do your cardio, allot of MMA fighters use this technique when training to build stamina.
Reply:run on a schedule, track time and distance and force yourself to go further or faster every 4th run ... if you use a treadmill, use the incline feature to make the same distance harder ...
Reply:The only way is to run, run and run more, at least 12 miles, 3 times per week.
Reply:Walk for a bit then run for as long as you can. Alternate in between walking and running until the times you can run gets longer.
Reply:Run longer distances at a lower speed, and then work yourself up.
Reply:Start slowly, and go a little further every day. Make sure you eat right. You need protein and complex carbs. Make sure you keep your fluid level up.

Further, make sure you exercise and build your muscles.
