My girlfriend is coming to see me in exactly 21 days and I'm preparing for that moment. I will not take any drugs, only foods. If you know of some foods that help with sexual stamina, let me know please. Thanks a bunch.
Is there any foods that help improve sexual stamina?

What should it feel like if someone runs too much, or exceeds their stamina thresh-hold?
I just tend to feel asif my lungs are burning, my mouth and throat is dry. I might get a stich in my stomach - or I may want to puke if I do it too much, and weak.
What do you guys feel like, is it different for everyone?
What should it feel like if someone runs too much, or exceeds their stamina thresh-hold?
It Feels Like Your Going To Throw Up %26amp; You'll Probably Cough A Lot Especially If Your Throat Is Dry. But What You Described Is Just How I Feel When I Push Myself To That Point But If Anything Worse You Could Probably Pass Out.
Reply:Like your going to die.
Reply:I usually feel like my throat shuts down, making it harder to breathe, and sometimes, I feel like I'm going to drop down to the ground, because my legs can't continue on....

Does anyone have any good tips for training in order to increase stamina and strength?
I want my punches to become more focused and powerful. I also want to be able to last longer when I am throwing punches and kicks. I would also like to increase the speed of my attacks too.
Does anyone have any good tips for training in order to increase stamina and strength?
Go to classes! Many classes. You start out doing only so many of the drilling, but as you advance in rank sets of 100 kicks was not at all unknown. Our advanced classes always began with 30 minutes of drilling in the basic techniques. Then we progressed to the rest of the class, often including more basic techniques!
Just by attending the classes you are going to become more focused and powerful. You cannot help but do so. Pay attention to your instructor. A good instructor knows how to teach you pinpoint focus. As you become more proficient, the speed of your reactions shall increase. After time, it is, literally, second nature.
I attended 4-6 days a week, one to two classes a day. I usually attended the junior class, where I taught, then the senior class, where I taught and was taught. In the blackbelt only classes, of course, I was strictly the pupil. I also had the classes I taught.
I also did the relatively high-rep light weight weight training, never for bulk.
Another good thing to do to increase your technique is watch the senior students. If you see one whose technique you like, watch them. Even go up to them and ask them to teach you in that specific technique. In my Dojang that was common practice and I never had anyone refuse me and I, when I was asked, never refused anyone. It was an honor to be asked.
Another thing to increase your speed is to practice with wrist and ankle weights. Start out with light weights, work up slowly. Trust me, after a bit of that, when you take them off your speed SHALL increase.
I did not run because I was in an ugly area but when I got a chance to get out somewhere pleasant, away from cars, I would go for a run.
Aerobics classes would help with stamina but, frankly, I would prefer to attend a class at my Dojang than spend the time at an aerobics class.
Reply:Thank you for asking such a good question. I live in Hawaii and I train at BJ Penn's MMA academy here in Hilo. Over here they do a lot of cardio trainning with light weights. We have a certain training called "Fight Gone Bad". It is a circuit training where you do a certain exercise for a minute and then switch to another. You continue this for 5 minutes then rest for one minute. To start off with it's good to do 2 rounds and then 3 rounds after your stamina builds. When there is a tournament or fight coming up we usually do this 2-3 times a week. Make sure not to do this everyday as overtraining can take away from the benefits of this routine. It gives you the kind of explosive energy when you need it the most, hence the name "Fight Gone Bad". The usual exercises are a 20" box jump, medicine ball squats, row machine set to 10(max), sprawls, light weights(20-35lbs)shoulder presses and upright rows(make sure to keep a good posture, knees slightly bent, and bouncing on the balls of your feet). Make sure you do the one with the weights and choose from the other 3 options. The idea is to do as many reps per exercise in the minute and try to increase that number. I also find it beneficial to run sprints once a week. I was instructed to run 100 yards and jog back, then 75, 50, 25 ,10, and then jump knees to your chest 10 yards forward, backward and sideways both ways(left and right). This is all in addition to your regular training. My personal feelings are that is not good to run with weights for 2 reasons. One is that is causes unecessary impact on your knees(similar to running downhill). Two is that your joints become accustomed to a slower movement(similar to bodybuilding lifting heavy weights). This type of training will increase speed, agility, and endurance that is beneficial to fighting. Bj uses a lot of exercises from www.crossfit.com . Good luck in your training and I wish you the best results. Aloha

Reply:Try a trick me and my cousin came up with, run with weights on and a parachute. Weights on your wrists, ankles, and body and run with those on for a few miles while the parachute slows down your running. After you get used to this you'll be faster and have more stamina. My cousin is much faster then i am but i am stronger then he is. Basically we just use 10 pound wrist weights,20 pound ankle weights, and a 150 pound weight vest. As for the parachute he uses it more then me. It has helped us but that is our routine. Oh and we run 5 miles everyday.

Reply:That's a lot of requests. First things first, your system(s) should have its own methods of doing all those things for you if you practice daily and diligently. That being said...
Part of martial arts training is not only conditioning your muscles, but your nervous system as well. A student once asked Bruce Lee, "How can I make my kicks faster?" Lee responded, "Kick faster." Your brain controls your muscles potential for fast movement or strength to an extent. So you need to train your nervous system to help you be effective in a practiced movement by using more of the muscle fibers you already have. For example, if you never lift heavy weights and you try and pick up a 300 lb rock, your brain won't allow your muscles to activate fully, even though you are already strong enough, because you aren't used to it and your nervous system thinks you will get hurt. We usually only activate 10-15% of our muscle fibers at any given time. That is why you train everyday to condition your nervous system to the activity practiced; then your muscles become more efficient.
If you want to attack faster, more powerfully, or for longer, you need to practice that activity. For punches, do 100 quality (emphasize Quality) full body punches on each arm every day. Apply this to your other techniques too. Forms are good for doing repeatly because they contain many full body techniques, and if done quickly and powerfully, can be an effective anaerobic exercise.
Training wise, look into pylometric exercises, like jumping exercises or explosive pushups (jumping pushups). These will improve your power and speed and your ability to quickly generate force. Increase your stamina by focusing on your footwork and leg stances too; practice will make for a solid, powerful base from which to launch all of your attacks, and you'll be more efficient on your feet. Remember, all proper techniques generate their power through your legs, then travel up through your body into a punch, kick or throw.

Does running on the treadmill increase your stamina and Endurance?
I know treadmill's helps out with your heart rate, but does it help out with stamina and endurance?
Does running on the treadmill increase your stamina and Endurance?
Definitely. Anything that raises your heart rate and sustains it there for an extended period of time will improve stamina and endurance. Also try jump rope or bike.

How can you build stamina for running back and forth for hours while playing soccer?
Soccer players run for more than an hour at times on the field. They have to have good stamina to do that. I just want to know how I can build that type of stamina to run for that length of time.
How can you build stamina for running back and forth for hours while playing soccer?
You can start by jogging then you need to increase the speed at which you run each day! Push your self until you feel as though you are going to pass out and die! Then after that keep that up until it gets easy and then start all over again! That worked for me after i started playing indoor! Hope it helps!

How to improve on my dancing stamina?
i've tried running, but that only ended with me hurting myself with a twisted foot... any suggestions? and is there a way to strengthen abdominal muscles without crunching, i hear that if you do it excessively, it can make your butt sag. Is that true?
How to improve on my dancing stamina?
I don't know what kind of stamina you are interested in building, whether it is as a social dancer, a dancer in clubs, or somebody who is serious about competition. If you are currently taking dance lessons, your instructor is a good source of information. If you are taking group lessons, maybe now is the time to consider privates -- mainly because with private lessons, your instructor will work you harder.
Cross-training with other genres of dance. I don't know what your background might be, but if it does not include ballet, that is a good thing to consider. I have taken Argentine tango lessons from a number of people who had the discipline of ballet, and they were all excellent.
If you have the opportunity to enroll in Jazzercise, that might help. They have classes all over the country. They have both dance classes and body sculpting.
Consider the "aerobic" types of dancing, including: polka, lindy hop, and Viennese waltz and certain kinds of German folk waltz.
Reply:Practice, practice, practice. Thats really the only way you can improve you stamina, besides running but that obviously didn't work. Also, I don't know about the butt sagging issue, but instead of crunches lay flat on your back and hold on to something, raise your legs straight up so they are at a 90 degree angle from your body. Then throw your legs down as fast as you can but stop just before you hit the floor, raise them back up and do it again. Trust me you'll get a good workout.

In football some players sprint faster than others is that beause of their stamina or their leg muscles?
I've been watching Ricardo Kaka play from brazil and AC milan and he seems to just out run any player that tries to take the ball off him, it just seems bit wierd that not many football players can't keep up with him. It's the same with Cristiano ronaldo from Portugal and Manchester united, is it because of their stamina or their leg muslces or both?
In football some players sprint faster than others is that beause of their stamina or their leg muscles?
Apparently some people have fast twitch muscles (suitable for sprinting) and some people have slow twitch muscles (suitable for distance running). Perhaps some people have naturally fast, fast twitch muscles.
Reply:they just run fast because of their leg muscles.....they are strong and are able to move quickly to allow faster running

How to build up arm strength %26amp; stamina for outfielder in baseball?
Pushups would be the best to build muscle for throwing but you should see fielding coach to improve your throwing arm. Mechanics may be part of you getting worn out as well

I keep running out so quickly during the 400 meter race!
How do i increase my stamina on mario sonic olympic games races?
All you have to do is keep running at a steady pace. If you run too quickly you are going to use up the stamina you have. If you keep going at a steady pace, you keep most of your stamina and won't start to stagger.
Hope this helps!

A day.
How many laps do I have to swim to get more stamina and loose wieght?
All pools are different, so I will give you a distance. You will be able to build your stamina and lose weight with a 3000 yard workout. 3 times a week.
As for your question about under water. Because water is all around you, your body has to work at all times. You will have resistance throughout the workout. However, it’s easier on the body because you are not going against any hard surfaces. Whenever an athlete is rehabbing, one of the activities that is highly recommended is swimming.
Reply:about 30 l;aps i usually do it
Reply:swimming is great for building muscles and cardio. i'd start out slow if ur just starting b/c when ur swimming u use different muscles than running. as many laps to get you tired i suppose, play it by ear. yes water has lots of resistance b/c it's denser (if u ran in jello it would have more resistance b/c it is even more denser!). resistance like this is another great reason to swim b/c the more resistance the harder ur muscles have to work and improve.
swim like you would lift weights: you wouldn't start out bench pressing 200 lbs! start with what's comfortable and work ur way up

Is it true that better stamina such as running will make you last longer in the bed room?
I always wondered if that was true or not because if it is I am going out and buying a pair of running shoes.
Is it true that better stamina such as running will make you last longer in the bed room?
Any form of regular exercise does make you have better stamina and strong in bed. For running, it does on me.
Reply:I'm sure it does. Basically any good cardio work out is going to help improve your stamina, which in turn will transfer to the bedroom.
Edit: Oh ****. Unless you mean, like make you "last" longer. If that's what you mean, then I'm fairly certain it's BS. Those are totally unrelated factors. That's more of a mental conditioning to control it, sort of thing.
Reply:It'll give you more energy. But lasting longer is not improved by exercise, but by discipline in the bedroom... being patient, taking your time, not getting overly excited, etc. But studies have shown that a healthy diet betters your sexual appetite.
Reply:Yes...any kind of aerobic exercise will heighten sexual pleasure...just don't overdo it...just start running around the block, then run farther the next day. you will feel better and live longer as well if you exercise regularly!
Reply:Running, exercise, weight lifting, and anything active, will help better your sexual performance. A well toned guy can easily outperform a lazy fat couch potatoe.

Does Senator McCain have the stamina to serve as president?
As a man who is up there in years, how is his prostate? Is it enlarged? Does he need to take frequent bathroom breaks? Won't that cause difficulties regarding a president's full daily schedule?
Does Senator McCain have the stamina to serve as president?
I'm sure his age and health will be big issues in the general elections. Interestingly, it's older voters who cite his age as a reason not to support him!
Reply:Yes. He does almost as much as the senator of his state and if he can last through the campaign he can last through anything.
Reply:He seems to be holding his own in Congress. which is just as stressful. Besides, A 70 year old McCain beats Hillary and Obama every time!!
Reply:Well according to Chuck Norris, when Huckabee was still running, said that McCain does not have the stamina.
Reply:are you serious? They give the President a Physical at the beginning of his term and every two years after that. He will be just fine. Dont go worrying your little head about it :P
Reply:Ask his Mommy. She lives in Arizona.
Reply:He has the stamina but I don't want him for President. He seems to me he will just be an older version of Bush 43
Reply:Are you joking? He spent 5 yrs as a P.O.W. while you where still craping in your diapers.

How do you increase your stamina?
for sex. I hear a lot of people saying that you can increase your stamina for two reasons, one to last longer in sex, and two, to get it up more faster when done having sex.
How do you increase your stamina?
Oh, a good exercise is while you're urinating, stop the flow for a couple of seconds. Then let it go. Then stop again. Keep doing it until you have complete control of stopping and going. I heard it strengthens the muscle in the penis someone so you don't ejaculate prematurely.
Reply:practice makes perfect :) ironically the less you care about sex the better you'll be at it. Or rather you can't be so happy to having it.

How to I gain stamina as a pitcher?
I've always been able to throw hard consistently, and I've never been taken out for the other team hitting off me. It's because I walk people when I get tired. How can I be able to go more innings without getting as tired?
How to I gain stamina as a pitcher?
What's the pitch count they tend to take you out at? Besides your usual pitching drills, focus on long toss. Also, when you throw a bullpen, throw more pitches each bullpen. When we start in the beginning of the season we only throw 4-5 sets equating to about 50 pitches. Towards the middle of the season if I don't pitch that week, I will throw maybe an 80-90 pitch bullpen. Just work your way up and make sure if you are getting tired, to stop because if you keep throwing when you are tired, you may end up screwing up your mechanics and maybe even hurting your arm.

How to improve my stamina in running?
I am quite slim. 51kgs. 1.71 metres tall. I don't have much fat on my body, but whenever i run, the most i can jog without stopping is about 1 1/2 miles and that's really short.
What's worse is that I'm asthmatic and fater running for a while, I will surely get an attack. So it's quite hard to practice my running.
Any good tips?
How to improve my stamina in running?
You should talk to your doctor about managing your asthma. Are you on a daily medication, or do you use an inhaler as needed? There are daily medications to help you better manage it, such as Singulair. Talk to your doctor about your options.
Reply:How fast do you run?.
Try running slower with more controlled breathing. You should get into a steady breathing rythm as soon as possible. For ex. I use 2 strides for an inhale and 3 for an exhale. Do not inhale through the mouth.
Try intervel runs. 45 sec of fast sprints followed by 45 sec of slow jog/walk. Repeat this for 10-15 times.
Try running hills and if on a treadmill run at 2-3 incline
Reply:I'm asthmatic too, but how I am improving my endurance running, is by running in intervals. Run 2 mins, or whatever you can manage now, then walk 2 mins to recover. Run three minutes, still walk two minutes to recover. Widen the inverals and it will build your stamina.

Is poor physical stamina due to an underlying medical condition?
I notice I have poor physical stamina. My friend was teaching me how to pitch for cricket at one stage but I don't have enough strength to even throw the ball far. I noticed that whenever I try to play sport, go to gym or run I get exhausted all the time. I noticed this since I was very young, maybe about 7. I'm 20 now.
Is there something wrong with me? If I have poor physical stamina, how can I ever have sex?
Is poor physical stamina due to an underlying medical condition?
Go see a doctor for a physical to rle out any medical conditions. If you get the all clear, you are just unfit. regardless of the outcome, you need to do something about it. Walk for an hour, daily, get your heart pumping, a good into to fitness. Go from there.
Reply:The only way to find out is to go to a medical doctor and get a complete physical exam, complete with lab work.
It might be that you are trying too hard at these physical activites right away, instead of getting used to them slowly.
Reply:What medical condition do you think you might have?
Do you have any other symptoms other than exhaustion? (i.e. irregular heartbeat, palpitations, dizziness, headaches, pain, nosebleeds, etc.?)
If you have no other symptoms, you should start by finding your target heart rate. Look on the web to find out how to calculate it for your specific height, weight, age, etc. Then start doing aerobic exercises daily within in that range for about 30 mins, then do an hour of weights. (i.e. 30 mins on the elyptical or the treadmill). When you lift weights, go for more reps at lighter weight to build endurance, rather than bulk. The last rep is supposed to be very difficult to lift. Stick to that for a month and you should notice a difference. This is not going to happen over night.
Also, there are some really good tips on bodybuilding.com even if you're not into body building.

What is the best method to working up the stamina to being able to run long distances?
I am right now just able to jog for a little while and want to be able to run two miles easily.
What is the best method to working up the stamina to being able to run long distances?
Run for time, not for distance: wear a good digital watch, and try to run for 10 minutes without stopping, and add 2-3 minutes per stretch each week. Also, I found that chewing gum helped me find a rhythm...music doesn't hurt, either.. Let you mind go and don't think about the "2 miles" part - just go!

I need to be able to run 1.5 miles in under 16 minutes in order to pass State Police test, i can only run 1.5 mile at 17 minutes at best and i am finding it very hard to run under 17.
I have a threadmil and i run 3 times a week for a mile or two.
Now any other factors that can help me improve my endurance besides running? Like eating certain foods, or any other tips?
Any tips on how can i increase my endurance/stamina?
How long have you been running? It takes some time to build endurance.
You might try interval training. This is easier to do on a track rather than a treadmill, but can be done on a treadmill. Run or jog for 30 seconds to 1 minute, then walk for the same amount of time, then back to running. You go back and forth like this and you can actually do more work than if you just run.
I would also increase the frequency of your exercise sessions, as well as the distance. This doesn't mean you have to run every day, but some sort of aerobic activity at least 5 days a week.
Complex carbohydrates are the best fuel for endurance. Whole grain breads, cereals, pasta, rice, etc. will help give you the energy you need. Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables and stay well hydrated. Even mild dehydration will cause a decrease in muscular strength and endurance.
Reply:The day before your next test, drink lots of water to hydrate your body. Drink until your urine runs clear. The night before, eat a good pasta dinner to carb up. Then, the morning of your test, eat a banana for some quick energy and take aspirin to thin out your blood. I used this preparation for a PT Test while I was in the Army and it worked great for me. Good Luck!
Reply:run 2 miles on land. treadmills do some of the work for you (you don't have to push your legs just pick them up) and before the test run a few warm up laps after stretching. stay hydrated.
Reply:To improve fast, the best thing to do is sprinting. It is the hardest thing you will ask your body to do, but it will improve you fast. Do a 9 second sprint as fast as you can. Trot the same distance back and then do it again in 9 seconds. Do that until you are gasping fo breath. This will improve your body's ability to process oxygen faster which will also improve your endurance. Using the treadmill is good, but it will take longer. Good luck.
Reply:Eat plenty of protein such as fish, chicken and quorn. You can get protein shakes from many stores now like Boots, Holland and Barrett etc. Drink 2 litres of water daily. Eat your veg. Do eat some carbs but only small amount also eat your veg.
Reply:get off your treadmill slap on the mp3 and run one mile one week and try to shave off time after that a second week then do two miles and repeat. also weight training for legs would help alot.
also, load up the night before your test with carbs...a decent pasta dinner is traditional

How do I build up my running speed/endurance/stamina?
I am trying out for a football team in the next 6-8 months, I havent worked out or anything like that in some time. I started running again and I need to build back up my speed and my endurance especially. What can I do to be prepared for the tryouts and in my best physical condition?
How do I build up my running speed/endurance/stamina?
Great Question.
To run faster, you need to run sprints. This can vary for you but think of your body as an aerobic machine when you run. You take in oxygen and burn food/fat. If you run at the same speed the whole run, you must be taking in enough oxygen to sustain your exercise. This is aerobic. If you want to improve your speed, you need to challenge yourself, by getting to the aerobic speed, then for 30 second bursts - run as fast as you can - your body will not be able to take in enough oxygen to sustain this speed for much longer. That is anaerobic - and it is the only way to improve your speed, given your weight stays the same.
So, set up a regemine for your running - however many miles a day you run, run the same each week - or increase up to 10 percent distance or time per week - up to you. Every other day at most - run sprints. Warm up as usual (stretch), run your aerobic pace, then do a 30 second sprint (I do telephone pole sprints -start at one run fast to the next). Then Slow down, until you can sustain your normal pace - a heart rate monitor and understanding of how to use this to your advantage will help. Once your heart rate is back in the aerobic zone, you can breath without too much effort, do another sprint. Repeat the sprints. Do sets of 3 - run or even walk to get your heart rate back down. Take a double rest between sprints. Repeat the sets of 3, 3 times on a sprint day.
This will improve your running speed. Be sure to hydrate prior to running, and after. If it is especially hot, be sure to acclimate your body to the extra strain - break into sprinting regemine by adding a low number of sprints at first - increase over weeks and months. But start now - 6-8 months should be enough time to MEASURE and OBSERVE improvements in your speed.
Read about the heart rate monitor use! You will benefit from it! These are for professional atheletes, not just old people trying to stay alive. Work smart, improve max in min time.

is very important. then work out and practice. remember

in the best condition.

Reply:They make this small parachute that fits a harness that you wear like a back pack. By giving you resistance when you run, your legs build up muscle and you will run faster when it is off. Also WORK ON YOUR STRIDE AND KICK! Your legs have to move right in order to run fast. Talk to the track coach.
Reply:To do this set a schedule for yourself to run about 3 to 4 times a week with speed training integrated into your weekly routine. Tuesday: speed training at 1/4 mile track running 440's and 880's.
Wednesday: Off, take a break to allow your body to recover!!!
Thursday: Run 6 miles at target heart rate.
Friday: Speed training at 1/4 mile track, 440's only.
Saturday: My long run day, 10 miles relaxed pace, about 10% under my THR or target heart rate.
Sunday: Off, take time to recover.

3. wear a loaded backpack and do sprints, when you sprint without the extra weight you will notice the difference.

Get good running shoes, wear a watch to track your times, watch your target heart rate! Go here to determine your THR!

Reply:If you live near a beach, run in the sand and surf. Run A LOT, if if you don't live near a beach. Start slow and short and build up. Don't forget to warm up before running.
Reply:Here's what I'd do:
1. do about 5-10 sprints (short distance) in a set time....
2. run in a swimming pool where the water is above your waist
3. wear a loaded backpack and do sprints, when you sprint without the extra weight you will notice the difference.
4. i also agree with the beach idea

What are a few good exercises to increase my stamina?
WITHOUT SPECIAL EQUIPMENT
I want to be able to run a mile easily.
What are a few good exercises to increase my stamina?
Jog, sprints, and especially jump rope are all very good for increasing stamina but if your like me and hate running and jumping rope i suggest playing a very running oriented rec game...like get some friends together and play basketball, ultimate frisbee, soccer, etc.

What is the best, quickest, and easiest way to raise stamina?
I'm really fast, but I just can't run that fast for that long, and I get tired quickly, and I just want to know how to increase my stamina in any way.
What is the best, quickest, and easiest way to raise stamina?
Control your breathing.
Start by inhaling and exhaling in time with your strides.
Left, right, inhale, exhale.
After a couple of minutes inhale for two strides and exhale for two strides.
Idea is to oxygenate your blood.
Going faster for longer is a matter of working up to longer strides and deeper breathing.
You will need a standard to judge your improvements by.
For me a set time and increasing distance is quite satisfying.
Your body has an internal clock, and in some amazing way will pace itself and ration energy quite efficiently once it learns your training regime.
Running to a distance is harder for your body to organize. A lot of concious input must be assimilated. Your body doesnt trust your mind and keeps trying to hold onto a reserve.
Hopes this helps.
Cross country mountain biking was my sport by the way.

How can I increase stamina for basketball?
I'm not trying to be cocky or what but in I raced with my friends who have most speed %26amp; stamina in running, cross country, biking %26amp; swimming and I got at worst the 3rd place. But when it comes to play basketball, defending an amature %26amp; making just one accurate jumpshot already tires me.

Do suicides.
Start at one baseline. Run as fast you can to the first free throw line, then back to original baseline. Run to the halfcourt line, then back. Run to the opposite free throw line, then back. Run to the opposite baseline, then back. That's 1 suicide for you. Repeat. Do several sets of those until you puke.

How can I harvest lily seed pods to plant next year?
I am talking about the thick green pod under the stamen that you can see when the petals fall off. I was told there are seeds inside, like a poppy, and it sure looks that way to me. Can I dry them out and plant them? Do I leave them inside the pod while drying or break it open..?
FYI They look like daylillies, orange, about 4 or 6 blooms were on this one stalk. They were in an arrangement I received.
How can I harvest lily seed pods to plant next year?
Won't work. The seeds are immature. Shop around for the same variety and buy bulbs.
Reply:Leave the seeds to dry in the pod. You could try growing them, but remember it will take a few years before you get a lily bulb large enough to produce a flower. Also the flower may not be like the original flower. Good luck.

How to build up stamina in 1 week?
I have always been a sprinter at school. But lately I haven't really exercised and my stamina has definitely died down, but I still have my speed. My school's sports day is not more than a week away, so this is a little urgent!
Thanx in advance for help!
How to build up stamina in 1 week?
I run track and I am a sprinter and my coach has worked on building up my stamina by over distancing me this last week for our state compitition. You should try going on a mile run and each day increase the distance but try going the same pace
Reply:I have been running for 8 years now and would recommend the following:
I would strengthen the core: calves, quads, hams, back and abdominal (the "six pack" muscles along with the obleks), chest and arms. But when strengthening these muscles, I would focus more on the muscle endurance not the muscle bulk. For more advice for this, I would consult with a personal trainer. For the running part, I would stay flexible as it helps/contributes to your balance (so do the muscles in your core) but also helps prevent some injuries like pulled muscles and shin splints. Also, I would try to make up a schedule where you can run for X amount of days and try to have a long run. I would start off slowly, running about 2-3 miles per run for the first week and increase my mileage per week. Make sure you have the following: a good diet, hydration, sleep, a good sense on how to take care of your body, and sleep. Good Luck!!!

What happens if I pollenate my Amaryllis?
Just wondering: if my fuzzy legs touch the pollen on my blooming Amaryllis, and then they rubbed some of the pollen onto the stamen, would I be enhancing the production of a new bulb?
How do new bulbs form anyhow?
Thanks in advance for you responses!
What happens if I pollenate my Amaryllis?
When you do this you would be enhancing seed production, not bulb production. You can grow amaryllis by seed (rarely done except by people wanting new varieties) or by bulb.
New bulbs in an amaryllis grow off to the side of the parent bulb, underground. When I repot (or dig up outside) my amaryllis plants, I break off these new bulbs and eventually start new plants. Most of the time, I don't have to worry about all of these newer, smaller bulbs being produced outdoors, but when an amayllis has been in a single pot for quite a long time (indoors), then the new bulbs usually have to be broken off during repotting.
P.S. I have reread your additional comments: An amaryllis plant reproduces by both sexual (seed) and asexual (bulb) reproduction. And I have seen just the tiniest piece of a bulb which has fallen on the soil surface produce plants.
There is no movement of fertilized eggs down the plant to the bulb. New bulbs are genetically identical to the parent plant; seeds usually are not since two sets of genes came from two parents.
Reply:Thanks for your informative answer. I think I will go the bulb route!
Five stars!!! Report It
Reply:You sure can. Even better if you have 2 different varieties so you can cross pollinate.
It will form a seed pod, rather roundish, the will eventually turn yellowish when it is ripe. You'll find a ton of flat seed in there. They germinate rather rapidly too. The only down side is that they'll take anywhere from about 3-5 years to grow into a blooming size plant.
Anyhoo, it's kind of a fun thing to do and see in action. Be aware that it may put a strain on the parent bulb that could limit its own ability to flower next year.
Enjoy!

How do I build up my running stamina?
I want to run for long distances, but right now I can't even run a mile without becoming tired.
How do I build up my running stamina?
i would say don't worry about speed first. just jog at a moderate pace start from 1 mile first
and when you get more comfortable with that increase by 1/4 of a mile every 3-5 times you run and build it up slowly
but i have to stress don't worry about speed or time. just stay at a pace you feel you can keep for a very long time
and do your best not to stop and start walking because its easiler to just keep jogging then stop and walk
after you are done jogging. don't just stop either, keep moving by walking and slowly cool down
i think thats all i can think of now
Reply:run each day only what you can and slowly increase on that. don't force yourself too much. you'll see the difference in a month.
when i first started running i was tired in 2 minutes but at the end of the month, i was doing pretty well.

Reply:Force yourself to do a little more each day. The more you do that, the better your stamina will be. Endurance is the key.
Reply:It's basically just getting use to it. For example: Running from 1 point to another will only get easier if you keep doing it. It will never get harder to run from that point to the other.

What is the best way to get stamina for grappling/mma and kick boxing.?
I am good at fighting and can beat people that are stronger then me but now after years of weed I run out of energy and loose after like a minuet of winning.I quit smoking and I know about conserving energy but i still dye out quickly. It is very depressing to have to loose to people for that reason alone and my confidents has dropped since I fought again and found this out.
What is the best way to get stamina for grappling/mma and kick boxing.?
As many have mentioned, running will build your aerobic base. That is a very important first step.
Aside from cardiovascular endurance, you must also consider musclular endurance. You can have an amazing wind, but what if your muscles are giving out on you long before your lungs? You need to have both.
There are excercises out there that mimic the strain that these activities (grappling and kickboxing) will put on your body. However there are too many variables within each discipline to truly cover everything with only a few excercises. That is why many say that "the best excercise for grappling is grappling" and "the best excercise for kickboxing is kickboxing."
That being said you should try some supplementary excercises on the side, nonetheless. I'd suggest...
Fartlek running. Run for 20-30 minutes at varying speeds. Whenever you feel like sprinting, sprint! Whenever you feel like taking it slow, take it slow. But over the course of your run, just keep switching it up. It's a surprisingly good workout.
The reason why many advocate fartlek training over normal distance running is because, during a match, you'll often have to switch gears. One minute you're going slow, but in the next second, you're exploding into motion! Fartlek mimics the situation.
Of course, there's no reason that you couldn't do both Fartlek and normal jogging.
And here are some conditioning drills that help both muscle endurance and cardio (for high-output situations).
Tap-sprawls. Get a timer, set up either 2-3 minute rounds. Find a partner (or a wall) and stand in front of it. Reach out and give your partner (or wall) a chest-level high five with both hands, and then you sprawl. Once you've sprawled immediately throw yourself up into a crouched position (using your arms), stand up, and repeat.
*Make sure that you use your arms to slow your descent on the sprawl, as you're not actually sprawling on anything, so that you dont hurt yourself. It'll work your muscles more too.
Burpees. Set your timer for either 30 or 45 seconds. Begin in a squatting position. When its go-time, throw your legs back so that you're in a pushup position. Do a push up, return to a squat position, and jump AS HIGH AS YOU CAN. When you land, repeat the process until the time is up. Do not get lazy; always jump AS HIGH AS YOU CAN.
Spider-walks. (This one requires a good bit of space). Find a lengthy space. Go on all fours (feet and hands), and walk across the space. Once you've hit one end, turn around and go back to your starting space. That's one lap. Either do 5 in a row, take a 15 second rest, and start again... OR, be brave and try doing it for an entire 2 or 3 minute round.
Reply:Throw away all of the old school training methods they are so outdated it's not even funny..
Truly you need an individualised assessment and plan to get to your true potential but if you can't afford that the give crossfit a try.
go check out www.crossfit.com they post a workout every day for free, do every workout and in a few months you will be the fittest that you have been in your life.
Crossfit is the perfect base building program then if you are building towards a fight or competition I'd do a sport specific 10 - 13 week build up with a 1 - 3 week tapper at the end.
Good luck and I highly recommend getting into crossfit if you can't afford or find a decent conditioning coach.
Reply:Hill or Step sprints. find a hill and do relays, or the steps.
this resistance is crazy on the body (damn that gravity) and gets you fitter, faster. your body will uptake and process O2 better. not instantly but as time goes by you will get amazing recovery between rounds, or between opponents.
after pushing it on the hills/steps/angled climbs, you will find the flat SO EASY!
Reply:Running Up steps, running on the field, JUST DONT STOP MOVING. EVEN when you are about to pass out, keep on running.
Reply:Running, Running, More running.

How can I be a better runner and build stamina?
I'm not overweight, but my stamina is down to the dumps. I can do 1/4 of a mile without stopping, but I get really exhausted. I also have iron deficiency(anemia), so I was wondering how I can work up my game.
How can I be a better runner and build stamina?
First of all, increase your iron levels - take supplements or eat foods rich in iron. Anemia makes you feel exhausted and it's hard to run when you feel so tired. Try some intervals to build up your distance. Run 200m and walk 200m or run the corners of the track and walk the straight aways. Continue this for 20-30 minutes. Alternate distance days with interval days. Simply jog slowly on your distance days and try to run for 30 minutes. As you feel less winded, increase your interval distance. Run a 400m and walk a 400m. You will eventually build up your stamina and endurance. Good luck.
Reply:Take iron supplements first of all, and just run more and more often. It won't hurt to run as often as you feel like it. It only improves you running.
Reply:take nitrous oxide 30 min before cardio. i will recommend NO2 you can get it at GNC
Reply:practice and misery
Reply:Most runners run too hard because of "pain is gain". Don't do this. You need to jog and a steady pace, relax. And very important see a nutritionalist about your anemia. That's probably what's making you exausted. Remeber pain is only good for marines. Work up muscle mass and your heart, and take it from there. LISTEN TO YOUR BODY. Also weight training is a big help. Build up your arms and you will be amazed with the difference in your ability.
Reply:just fun how ever long you can w/o stopping and then the next day go a tiny bit further w/o stopping and everyday work your way up. before you know it you'll be a great runner with awesome stamina
Reply:drink lots of milk.
eat bananas
to avoid anaemia u need to increase the blood in ur body,so eat more dry fruits like almonds, cashews etc.
start jogging every day it can build ur stamina
do yoga n increase ur concentration, this can increase ur staminaa.
all the best

I am a high school freshman and i weigh 230 pounds. How do I lose weight while increase my stamina?
I really need to increase my stamina because im planning on playing basketball and i need stamina and lose weight but not muscle.
I am a high school freshman and i weigh 230 pounds. How do I lose weight while increase my stamina?
The only way to lose weight to eat less and exercise more. The caloric intake should be less than what your body will use for that day. To increase your stamina, you should go for a little progressive resistance training (prt) like progressively increasing the distance of your jogging area ( like one mile for today, and one and a half mile next month, and so on etc.,). Discipline is the key.

If you follow what i suggest for you without overworking everything, little by little you will gain and have that six-pack.
Nice bowl of non-sugary cereal in the morning, and throughout the day eat a lot of snacks that are kinda high in calories and healthy but in small portions at a time. Don't eat the regular 3 times a day because this just makes your metabolism work really slow thus you gaining weight.
As far as working out there is a lot for you to be doing right now too.
Always start with a good stretch, this maintenance of flexibility through regular stretching as a part of warm-ups and cool-downs may help reduce the risk of muscle tears, strains, and stress injuries.
Do muscle strength and endurance exercises such as lifting weights (low weight, lots of repetitions). You can also use your own body weight to do the exercises like push-ups (diamond, wide-arms, close arms), and there are also many ways of doing sit-ups.
Go and get to RUN! this is really helpful because you burn lots of calories and reduce the risk of your heart to fail in the future. Join a sport too.
Read the Men's Health magazines or to their website at menshealth.com, that is where i get the exercises that i do.

Reply:Here's my Weight Loss Program through Body Building and Nutrition. It works! If you want to lose weight, Don't Use Diet Pills. They are bad for you. Most of them are just a scam or they are addictive. Counting calories is a pain in the butt. It will drive you nuts. But, losing weight is simple. You just have to do the right things. Fad diets sometimes work but, you can be sure that at least 25% of the weight you lose will be muscle. Then when you stop the diet you will gain back all of the weight you lost but no muscle. So, you will have 25% more fat than you did before! Fad diets just aren't worth the bother. Fasting or skipping meals will teach your body that famine is about to happen and your body will begin to store more fat to get you through the next period when food is not available. Here's a simple trick that can help you lose weight without doing anything else. Drink a litre of water as soon as you wake up in the morning and then drink two more throughout the day. You'll notice a difference the first month. Here's a better way. For every pound of muscle that you add your body will burn 3000 calories (1lb) of fat every day. That means that just by having an extra pound of muscle on your body you will burn a pound of fat every day! So, add muscle! This is the fastest way to add a pound of muscle. Squats and Pushups! You do them on alternate days; squats one day, pushups the next. And you do them SuperSlow style. That is, you do the easy part twice as slow as the hard part. That way you fatigue the muscles quickly. Then you rest the muscles for 48 hours which gives the body a chance to make new muscles. Squats should be done with a wide stance and all the way to the floor. Pushups the with palms shoulder width apart and all the way to the floor, then all the way up. Use the full range of motion of the muscle group you are trying to develop.
The idea is to tire the muscles out completely so do a set of squats until you can't do another, then rest for a couple of minutes and do it again. Do that 3 times and you're done for the day. The following day, don't do squats but do pushups. Do them the same way, go down twice as slow as you come up. You will lose weight fast, unless you add more junk food and fat to your diet. Instead, eat at least 5 to 7 different raw vegetables and fruits every day. Cut out anything that comes in a bag or package. Cut out all processed foods, soft drinks and sweets. Eat more grains and less red meat. Check out the Food Pyramid. If you really want to give your body the best possible chance to be healthy and fat free, go to infinity2.com and order their weight loss formula and Essentials for Life. That will give you all the vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and probiotics that your body needs and will keep you feeling better and healthier. They also have a Proteabolic Mass Formula for serious athlete who want to build muscle mass quickly and safely. Weight loss without exercise is not good. You need to eat healthy, exercise and get your rest. You will feel better, look better and be healthier. Try it for a week. You will notice a difference. You will feel better and that will motivate you to continue. Losing weight only in specific areas of the body is impossible. You can't just lose weight around the belly, for instance. If you want tight, rippled abs, do crunches and leg raises every other day the way I described above. Good luck!

The only way to lose weight to eat less and exercise more. The caloric intake should be less than what your body will use for that day. How to increase stamina while running?
I want to increase my stamina so i can last longer while running long distances. Im 15 years old, 185 lbs and 6'2. I can run the mile in a 6:22, but i want to cut that down to at least a 6 flat or under 5. Any good workouts that i can do?
How to increase stamina while running?
try using a jump rope it is a great cardio workout also sprint then walk run as fast as you can for about 30 yards then walk ten and then sprint again doing these along with just old fashion running helped me pass my army pft with flyin colors good luck
Reply:1.) Hills. Find a short but steep hill and everyday for a month, run up and down 20 times. You should really have to work hard to do it.
2.) You need good abs for running. Do 200 situps daily.
3.) Wear ankle weights when your practicing. That helps.
4.) Find a local gym and use the calf raise machines and other leg machines.

How long does it take to build stamina? What type of diet would help?
I want to start running. But I always feel like im gonna get sick because im so out of shape. I feel like throwing up and its not even 10 minutes when I play some basketball. I am tired of giving up because of the phobia and nausiating pain of throwing up.
How long does it take to build stamina? What type of diet would help?
Start with walking - 6 blocks, 8 blocks, 10 . . .
Each day add blocks . . . why jump into something extreme where you feel sick ? It is almost like you do it on purpose , so you get sick and have an excuse to quit !
If you are serious, start with the walk, as far as comfortable then build from there .
Reply:I don't know any diets but try to face your fear. Start small like set small goals for yourself and make them bigger and bigger until you get the hang of it.
Reply:Well as a runner, carbohydrates help; but only for intense workout/game/meet. You need a lot of air to burn fat, but when you run, you don't nearly enough air, so you burn carbohydrates. Getting more carbos should be able to help you workout longer, which results in increased stamina. It should be the same more basketball.
I suggest eatting more bread, grain type foods. Noodles, french bread, etc. Your stamina depends on how hard you work, so their isn't an exact number, but my health teacher said it takes at least 2 weeks before a workout starts to show results.

What could cause me to have such little stamina when i've been doing so much cardio training?
I've been on the wrestling team for the past couple of months. Although i ussually don't do cardio i've have been forced to do serious cardio training. But i still have crappy stamina. I am fourteen years old, i eat lots of fast food, and i am african american
What could cause me to have such little stamina when i've been doing so much cardio training?
You said the magic words: FAST FOOD. There's a lot of fat and grease in fast food, which your body has difficulty processing. So, your body steals energy to digest food when you need it elsewhere.
Most people find themselves weak when a workout comes up because they don't have enough blood sugar or protein in their system. Also, be sure your hydration is up.
Before I work out, I make sure I have 2 bottles of water in the 2 hours leading up to it (assuming you're in class or otherwise inactive). Try to have protein an hour before the workout (I prefer a yogurt or hard boiled egg because they're quick to eat). Just before you go to change, have some fruit (a banana, orange or something) to get the glucose into your system. This should give you sufficient short-term and long-term fuel for a good workout.
Reply:There is a difference between long distance training, and short bursts of intensity. Wrestling is quicker and harder. Try jump roping
Reply:stop eating all that fast food. Have you ever watched the movie called supersize me? Change your diet and that will help a little. cardio does make you tired. Try weight training too.
Reply:You might have low potassium. You need to eat healthier. Just because you have youth on your side doesn't mean that you can eat haphazard. Eat right, take vitamins and get some energy. You should also get a check-up.

How do regain your endurance and stamina if you used to smoke?
I used to smoke and now when doing physical activity I lose wind quicker than I used to.How can i regain my endurance?
How do regain your endurance and stamina if you used to smoke?
Is hard but you can do it. Start walking every day for 30 minutes non-top. Then after two weeks start 1 hours, you will see the difference. I did smoke for more than 15 years and now I have a lot of stamina.
Reply:Fitness, power walk everyday and you will regain your old healthy self in no time. Also, have a physical to insure you're healthy and discuss your training ideas with your doc.

Good luck.

How do you develop explosive cardio / stamina?
I take judo and I usually gas out during sparring. Are there any exercises to develop explosive cardio. I lift weights so I have good strength and run, so I have good long cardio, but I need explosive cardio.
How do you develop explosive cardio / stamina?
Check out Cross Fit's webpage. They have a lot of good exercises that you can do to help develop your explosive power. Also, you can search for plyometrics on the internet or cehck out a book on the subject at your local library.
I wouldn't worry too much about your gas, though. There really isn't a difference between "long range" and "short range" cardio. The best you can really do is condition your muscles to be able to react to burst-intervals. This is exhausting primarily because it requires a different breathing pattern from regular cardiovascular exercise. Also, a lot of people don't relax while they are performing throws, submissions, and the like. This puts an increased oxygen demand on your muscles which, if combined with inadequate breathing, will exhaust you rapidly.
Once you learn how to breathe properly and control your tension, then your cardio will "improve"
Reply:Take a mile run at big bear. When you can do that, run another mile.
Reply:running long distance will give you stamina and running sprints will give you explosive stamina. run both long distance and sprints. also swimming is great for this. swim long distance and short distance. go to crossfit.com for more ideas
Reply:Isometric exercises are great
things like short distance sprints in your run, hill srpints and jumping
Kettlebells and olympic style lifting is great
training in the martial art, like if you do BJJ do a lot of rolling, if you do boxing spend time on the bag
any kind of jumping, jumping squats, jumping lunges, like i said isometric exercises there is many on the internet
Also I recomend getting Bas Rutten's MMA workout, great for explosive strength
Reply:When you are running add sprinting for short distances into your run.
Reply:well what you wanna do is work your fast twitch motion, you have long endurance but fast snap speed is the thing that tires you down, you have to do unexpected explosive fast twitch but at the same time you need endurance.
Fast twitch- Stand, bend down into a running stance, and run as fast as you can for about 15 seconds, continue and expand week by week.
Do fast squats, be sure to inhale and exhale.
Core workouts, let's say you're doing crunches, you crunch up as fast as you can then you come down slowly and right when your upper back/neck touches the ground go up ASAP. You need that fast twitch motion especially for grappling, it's a slow process but when you attempt or get attempted for a take down and/or submission, you need that speed ASAP.
As for running, jog 30 mins daily, or jump rope for 10 mins, 10 mins of jump rope is 30 mins of light jogging, this can increase your stamina along with core workouts.
You're working for twitch A %26amp; B, A=fast twich B=Slow twitch.
You need both in the battle field soldier,
Peace out and good luck.
Reply:There is no magic except training. You will fight like you train. You need to endurance train. Twenty min cardio won't cut it for sparing you need to pump it up to a full hour.
Reply:Walk, Jog, Run, Bike, Swim...all of those would easily help you at any amount but its best to have a steady pace so that you can build up stamina. They're all good, good luck!
Reply:Tabata sprint intervals will help, and also long distance running to improve overall conditioning. You need to train your fast twitch muscle fibers. Not to mention do burpees, the variation where you include the pushup. Register at sherdog.net they will be sure to help you out, but first read their faqs, they are very important.

How can I build a Stamina/Adrenaline pill that can be used to help with physical activities?
I would like to know how to design one used for that purpose. I got the idea from a friend, who said that he had adrenaline pumping when he was cut and there was no pain. I want to build this pill and enhance the physical capabilitys of the Human body. Any helpful feedback will be appreciated. Thank you.
How can I build a Stamina/Adrenaline pill that can be used to help with physical activities?
While a stamina/adrenaline pill sounds like a neat idea, the short answer is that it's just not possible.
Injectable adrenaline (epinephrine) is already available by prescription and is used to treat life threatening anaphylaxis in persons highly allergic to certain substances (eg, peanuts, shellfish and beestings) At times, adrenaline injections can be very useful medically and even life saving.
Adrenaline can be extremely dangerous if too much is given. It can only be safely used under the supervision of a physician, and even then it is only used in life threatening emergencies.
It also isn't possible to package adrenaline in a pill form.

Swimming is a great form of exercise. Not only does it provide an overall body work out, it also increases your endurance, lung capacity and muscle tone! It's great, give it a go. It might be hard at start, but perseverence will provide you with amazing results in swimming!

Reply:aerobic exercise. Run, bicycle for at least 30 minutes. Longer the better.

How do you raise your stamina in your life?
I use to have alot of energy and now i don't feel as active as useally i should still feel active considering i'm 15... I haven't worked out as much as useally snice i've gotten into highschool because of my schedule could that be a solution or something else? How do you get more energy into your life without any kind of drugs or thearpy; ex caffine, surgar pills
How do you raise your stamina in your life?
It could be your diet, or it could just be your age. At your age you're getting a constant bombardment of different hormones and maybe this is a reaction to it. Do you eat a good breakfast every morning? That is a really important thing to do to have a day full of energy. What happens if you don't is that you set your body in a rythm of low energy first then high energy afterwards. You want to start it right away with a good breakfast, nothing really sugary cause that will mess with your metabolism too. Oat meal and a piece of fruit would be the ideal. Then don't eat too many sweets throughout the day and bring some stuff to snack on. When you feel like you're getting low on energy, have a handfull of trail mix or a piece of fruit. And make sure to drink enough water. Stay away from sodas. Its hard to imagine it could be lack of exercise at 15. When I was 15 I ran everywhere I went. But if you're sitting infront of your computer or tv all day, cut back and start playing sports instead. You'll thank yourself when you're 35 and decide you want to get in shape. Good luck.
Reply:It seems kind of strange, but the best way to get energy is to use energy. Well, that and a good diet. Try eating more complex carbohydrates (vegetables, whole grains, apples, etc.) and keep a good healthy balance of protein and remove the sweets. Do that with a bit more exercise, and you should be bouncing off the walls.
Reply:you need to get back into an exercise routine this will help you get the stamina you once have you are going to have to make time 30 min a day or 15min 2x a day once you get back into you'll find your schedule can handle this as well.
Reply:u r only 15 just to keep ur self fit do some regular physical excercise and a good diet and dont u worry about future.
when it comes it will b facced dont b so contious
take care bye

How can i improve my stamina and endurance?
Im training for a basketball tournament coming up! Also how can i increase my vertical jump?
How can i improve my stamina and endurance?
All possible using http://increasedvertical.blogspot.com/
Reply:if you want to improve your stamina just jug or do laps around your place(not in your home but outside) or in a basketball court
to improve your vertical jump try to use some weights for the legs but select the appropriate weight for you to avoid any injuries.
Reply:keep running
Reply:endurance and stamina- run
vertical jump- squats, power cleans
Reply:To improve stamina for basketball you'll want to use some type of Hiit training or lots of change of direction/stop and go runs e.g. suicides, 16's. then go directly into a drill that involves shooting or jumping. For vertical jump: First you need to figure out what you are lacking, base strength, power, or explosiveness, they are all different and must be trained in different ways. You can figure this out by completing a full vertical jump test progression. Also you'll want to complete a baseline fitness test to uncover any muscle imbalances that you might have. You'll want to pick a program that combines Plyometric/body weight/olympic weight training and sport specific tempo training. Check out my dunk and training videos at:

Reply:stamina yea running alot

Reply:RUN! Use a treadmill, elliptical, and stationary bike. Do sprints and suicides. Make it a habit and you will see vast improvement in a short span of time.

How can I improve my stamina in swimming?
Hey bknicksc, what's up!
I'm an Australian competitive swimmer, although I generally focus more on shorter distance events I have done some longer stuff a few years back. If you are already focusing on the 200 free and IM than you probably already have quite a good fitness base. However as the old saying goes the more the merrier! In order to do longer stuff like the 400, 800, 1500 and in your case the 500 you really need to give yourself the most opportunities as you can to swim those long distances at a reasonable pace. If you try swimming 800 meters doing it as 100 hard, 100 easy than this will definitely improve your racing fitness and give you that extra legs that you need when you find yourself hitting that wall at about the two hundred/two hundred and fifty meter mark in your 500. This type of training, hard than easy (called varying pace) is hard yaka but it is definitely good fitness work. try to do a couple of reps maybe 3 or 4 in a main set.
Anyway hoped I helped you out a bit, of course there is heaps more you can do like cross training, diet etc. but I always find that some time hard yaka(work) is the best and only way.
Stick at it and good luck! h_swamp
