I am a high school freshman and i weigh 230 pounds. How do I lose weight while increase my stamina?

I really need to increase my stamina because im planning on playing basketball and i need stamina and lose weight but not muscle.

The only way to lose weight to eat less and exercise more. The caloric intake should be less than what your body will use for that day. To increase your stamina, you should go for a little progressive resistance training (prt) like progressively increasing the distance of your jogging area ( like one mile for today, and one and a half mile next month, and so on etc.,). Discipline is the key.
Reply:plain and simple since ur fat ... no offense it will be easy for you to lose weight just dont eat unnecessary things like have your three meals a day and go out walking for like an hour or if that doesnt work power walk for and hour or go on the treadmill you will lose the weight good but the more u lose the harder it gets to lose

Reply:I would never recommend any diet ideas because they can sometimes make matters worst, just go with the food pyramid (trust me it'll help).





If you follow what i suggest for you without overworking everything, little by little you will gain and have that six-pack.





Nice bowl of non-sugary cereal in the morning, and throughout the day eat a lot of snacks that are kinda high in calories and healthy but in small portions at a time. Don't eat the regular 3 times a day because this just makes your metabolism work really slow thus you gaining weight.





As far as working out there is a lot for you to be doing right now too.


Always start with a good stretch, this maintenance of flexibility through regular stretching as a part of warm-ups and cool-downs may help reduce the risk of muscle tears, strains, and stress injuries.


Do muscle strength and endurance exercises such as lifting weights (low weight, lots of repetitions). You can also use your own body weight to do the exercises like push-ups (diamond, wide-arms, close arms), and there are also many ways of doing sit-ups.


Go and get to RUN! this is really helpful because you burn lots of calories and reduce the risk of your heart to fail in the future. Join a sport too.

Reply:As you are very athletic, do not concentrate on losing weight as your weight will readjust itself if you eat properly.and your stamina will increase along with it. Don't deny yourself food but concentrate on your portions and the quality of what you eat.





If you need help, go to the library and take out some books on nutrition.

If you want to lose weight, Don't Use Diet Pills. 
They are bad for you. Most of them are just a scam or they are addictive. Counting calories is a pain in the butt.  It will drive you nuts. But, losing weight is simple. You just have to do the right things.

That is, you do the easy part twice as slow as the hard part. That way you fatigue the muscles quickly. Then you rest the muscles for 48
hours which gives the body a chance to make new muscles. 
 Squats should be done with a wide stance and all the way to the floor. Pushups the with palms shoulder width apart and all the way to the floor, then all the way up. Use the full range of motion of the muscle group you are trying to develop.


The idea is to tire the muscles out completely so do a set of squats until you can't do another, then rest for a couple of minutes and do it again. Do that 3 times and you're done for the day. The following day, don't do squats but do pushups. Do them the same way,
go down twice as slow as you come up. 
 You will lose weight fast, unless you add more junk food and fat to your diet. Instead, eat at least 5 to 7 different raw vegetables and fruits every day. Cut out anything that comes in a bag or package. Cut out all processed foods, soft drinks and sweets. Eat more grains and less red meat. Check out the Food Pyramid.

Reply:Clean up your diet. Basically eat foods that are good for you. Don't eat junk food , or drink carbonated drinks. That in itself should fix your problem. Fruits , veggies , lean meats and low fat dairy. On a whole foods eating plan you will probably eat more food, lose weight and have more energy.
