Increasing stamina on the running machines?

I am 19/male. I go to the gym regularly. I find that if I run fast on the running machines (or cross trainers) I will feel exhaused by 3 minutes. Do I just need practice or run slower or what? I run out of breath really fast. I try to make my workout intense and ofcourse it ends up being an extremely short time.

Run easy you can increase your stamina by running for more than 20 minutes, not running fast for a short period of time. After you get into better shape you can do hard, fast days along with some longer easy days. It takes time to develop your cardiovascular system.
Reply:You would be much better off running slower for a few minutes and increasing the speed for a period of time, like 1 minute or 90 seconds. Bring it back down for another few minutes and repeat the process over and over. Eventually you will increase the time periods where you increase the speed.
Reply:Sounds like you need to pace yourself better.
